Lock based concurrency control is erg complex, en de vraag is of het geschikt is voor mainstream development. Met de introductie van de multicore machine zal de behoefte om te gaan multithreaded toenemen, maar de vraag hoe we met concurrency control willen om gaan. Software Transactioneel geheugen zou een mogelijke oplossing kunnen zijn om om te gaan met deze complexiteit. Tijdens deze sessie zullen de achterliggende concepten uit de doeken gedaan worden, maar ook aan de hand van practische voorbeelden zaken inzichtelijk/tastbaar gemaakt worden.

Peter Veentjer is a Dutch Java Developer with a focus on concurrency control and distributed computing. In October 2008 he started the Multiverse Software Transactional Memory project, to see if there is an easier way to do concurrency control than the classic lock based approach. He has spoken twice on JFall/JSpring about concurrency related topics. And on his blog he tries to post frequently about various topics.
